Grimethorpe Colliery Band

Award-winning brass band based in the North of England, formed by workers at the local coal mine in 1917. As well as dozens of domestic awards, the band has represented England at the European level and took part in the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. The band’s music and story were the basis for the hit film “Brassed Off” starring Ewan McGregor and Pete Postlethwaite.

The Fedivision Song Contest

An annual event on the Fediverse where people are given a couple of weeks to create a song, then they are published and people on the Fediversevote on a favourite. Usually takes place on or around the time of the Eurovision Song Contest.

A pop band from the Fediverse, their music is really well produced sharp retro synthpop, often featuring LGBTQIA+ themes in the lyrics. I would especially recommend their self-titled album, and “Constellation” is a good track to start off with.
