Grimethorpe Colliery Band

Award-winning brass band based in the North of England, formed by workers at the local coal mine in 1917. As well as dozens of domestic awards, the band has represented England at the European level and took part in the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. The band’s music and story were the basis for the hit film “Brassed Off” starring Ewan McGregor and Pete Postlethwaite.
